In the game, Henry, a humble blacksmith, witnesses the invasion and destruction of his home. Seeking vengeance, he embarks on a perilous journey through medieval Bohemia. The narrative unfolds in a realistic, non-linear fashion, shaped by the player's choices. Along the way, Henry faces political intrigue, battles, and moral dilemmas, ultimately influencing the fate of the kingdom. The game is lauded for its historical accuracy, immersive world, and intricate storytelling, providing players with a challenging and authentic medieval experience.
The game locations are based on real-life historical sites in the Central Bohemian region. Rataje andTalmberk Castles, and the Sázava Monastery are popular tourist destinations among international fans of the game.
The official soundtrack was recorded by a symphonic orchestra at the Rudolfinum in Prague.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a Kickstarter Success Story. The church frescoes featured in the game were painted with the portraits of several generous donors who contributed to the crowdfunding campaign.
Experienced sword fighters performed motion capture for the realistic combat.

Warhorse Studios is one of the largest Czech studios, founded by experienced game developers Dan Vávra (the creator of the games Mafia and Mafia II) and Martin Klíma (Dračí doupě, UFO). A year after the release of their debut game Kingdom Come: Deliverance (2018), the studio was bought by Koch Media (now PLAION). The developers at Warhorse Studios are currently working on the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, set to launch in 2025.
