As part of the Zlín Film Festival, from Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1, the U13 University Centre building in Zlín will come alive with an unconventional gaming program. The festival’s gaming zone, titled PIXEL&FRAME: Gaming with a Twist, will offer visitors a unique blend of the worlds of video games, education, and filmmaking.
The organizers aim to bring gaming culture closer to a young audience while also engaging parents, teachers, and game developers. “This year, we are introducing an entirely new concept for the festival’s gaming zone, where the world of games meets audiovisual art,” says Jarmila Záhorová, Executive Director of the Zlín Film Festival.
The venue will offer more than forty computers, X-Box consoles, a VR cinema for children, as well as talk shows, panel discussions, and workshops for those interested in game development.
Miroslav Žák, founder of the VisionGame.cz archive, who has been mapping the history of Czech and Slovak games and supporting gaming culture in a broader cultural context, also contributed to the preparation of this gaming zone.
A part of the gaming zone will be the exhibition Infinite Universes, organized by the Czech Centres and the VisionGame.cz Archive.
Visitors will explore Czech gaming history and its present through interactive materials and visual showcases.
