Infinite Universes in Tokyo

The Japanese public can look forward to another exhibition of Czech video games at the Czech Centre Tokyo. Following the Czech Game Show held in previous years, this year’s event will introduce the project Infinite Universes, globally organized by the Czech Centres. The project aims to showcase Czech games and their success on the world stage to Japanese audiences. Through an interactive exhibition, visitors will become acquainted with selected development studios and their creations, while also having the opportunity to personally try out most of the game titles on-site. The exhibition at the Czech Centre Tokyo will begin on September 26, coinciding with the world-renowned Tokyo Game Show, and will run until the end of October.

Visitors can play most of the presented titles on-site and listen to game soundtracks. These, along with books of game illustrations and various game-related items, complement the overall installation. The project also includes ten short video interviews with representatives of the Czech gaming scene and development studios, which are available on YouTube

This is not the first gaming exhibition at the Czech Centre Tokyo. In previous years, the center organized interactive exhibitions under the name Czech Game Show to raise awareness of the Czech gaming industry and its potential among the Japanese public. In 2021, popular game titles were introduced to the Japanese audience, while the 2023 exhibition focused on smaller, independent game studios that offer players a unique artistic experience and promote Czech culture.

The founder of the Archive of Czechoslovak Developers and Players and curator of the exhibition, Miroslav Žák, says about the selection:

“I made the selection for the exhibition based on the most successful titles currently played by millions of players and large communities around the world. The exhibition will also feature small or medium-sized projects that are independent and offer an interesting artistic and creative vision. Visitors can look forward to original, creative titles that can draw players into their infinite universes. It will be a unique experience for both non-gamers and gaming fans.”
